CHARACTER INFO
Character name: Ziva David
Fandom: NCIS
Point in canon taken from: Season 6, Episode 11 "Silent Night"
Appearance: Ziva stands at about five feet and a half and has black naturally curly hair that she occasionally pulls up into a ponytail or braid. She tends to dress less for style and more for practicality, her normal attire something along the lines of cargo pants, combat boots, and a long sleeved shirt with a vest over the top. However, she has been known to dress more sleekly when a case requires it.She always wears a Star of David on a simple chain around her neck, despite eating many non-Kosher foods and vaguely observing Jewish holidays. Her complexion is very dark, due to her Israeli origin, and a very lean, fit figure, which she uses to her advantage.
Personality: Ziva can be very cold and distant, using these traits as a defense mechanism, especially when handling the emotions of others. However, over her time at NCIS, she has softened up and grown a significant sense of humor that can sometimes lead to mischief. She cooperates well with others and can form close friendships with those around her if given the chance. Sometimes, though, she can become very bossy and ignorant of other’s feelings when under high stress from others to perform well. Otherwise, she stays very cool under pressure.
History: Ziva was born to the Director of Mossad, a Middle-Eastern agency that works closely with American bureaucracy (including NCIS where she is currently assigned). Trained in a special division, she grew up learning the ways of assassination, espionage, and coercion. Because of this, she has extensive knowledge in many areas such as language speaks seven languages fluently and knows basics in three others), memory (has a photographic memory), and physical prowess (can repel down cliffs without safety ropes, etc.). However, she has a certain emotional stunt in that she find it hard to identify with others and show empathy that is crucial to her undercover work.
When she first arrived at NCIS, Ziva served as the handler for a rogue agent and her half-brother Ari Haswari who already killed one NCIS agent Caitlin Todd. Ziva ended up having to kill her half-brother in order to save Leroy Jetho Gibbs, her to-be boss and now confidante. A few weeks later she joined Gibbs’s team when the then-director of NCIS Jenny Shepherd hired her as a liason to Mossad. At first, she clearly did not fit in with the rest of the team, frequently mixing up English idioms and American culture. However, as time continued, she grew more into her position as an NCIS and fell more away from the ‘assassin’ mannerisms she grew up with.
Jenny Shepherd’s sudden death several months ago brought about a radical change in Ziva’s life. The new director broke up the team and she was sent back to Israel where she was promptly sent undercover in Morocco as a night-club singer. There, she became involved in a bombing and re-established her relationship with her father. However, when the mole at NCIS was found, she returned to Gibbs’s team, against the now-director Leon Vance’s wishes. The team was completely reunited and they continue to work investigations per usual.
